Mourning the Loss of a Great Friend!

It's just terrible!!!!! Totally unexpected and heart-breaking! I just sank into my chair and said, "NO!!!!! This just can't be happening to me!!!!"

You see, we had really just gotten to know each other. Up until a few months ago, we would see each other only once in a while, and I must confess, it was for selfish reasons only. It's only been recently that I realized how much this friend had to give and before this, was left out in the cold!

It's my bread machine!!!!! It died today. Very suddenly. And in the line of duty, of all things!!!!

I wanted pizza dough. I got out my recipe, dumped the junk in there, plopped the pan in the machine and set it on dough setting, and away it went. I've gotten to just love the sound as it starts up slowly --- mixing all the lovely junk in there -- and then revving up and slapping that dough around, making that beloved ball of dough.

But today. . . . in the middle of it all, it died. Just up and quit!

What in the world am I going to do????? I had just gotten to the point where I found out all this wonderful machine could do. I've made the best breads, learned about the dough only cycle, etc., etc. I know, I know!!!! I don't NEED bread. In fact, I don't need ANY bread, or pizza dough, or rolls, or butter, or jelly, or cream cheese, or anything else that goes with the word bread. But it's my all time favorite thing. . . . .!!!!!!!

Please just let me mourn the death of my friend. It's still sitting on my counter. I can't even move it.

You had me thinking you really lost a friend! I must confess, I own a bread machine and have never used it! I prefer to hand knead bread but after reading this, I may have to dig it out and learn how to use it! If you lived closer, I'd probably give it to you! Hope you find a new one soon!

Shame on you! I nearly got into tears.... LOL! That was a good one.

I have a neglected bread machine but I afraid that if I use it , it might die.

Yes you had me convinced it was a real person.

But I guess a good bread machine is worth its weight in gold.

Hope you find another ...

RIP Breadmaker - you were loved!

Great post! Like the others, you had me fooled.

I share your love off all things bread! I know we should watch the carbs but golly, there is NOTHING better than warm bread slathered in butter!

Sorry to hear of your "loss" and hope you have many fond memories of the aroma of fresh baking bread to comfort you! Now, get over to the store and get a replacement... pronto!

Good thing I read it until the end. You had me going as well in the beginning.
I just sold mine at a garage sale as it sat in the cupboard for so long. Do I miss it? Maybe one day......

I'm sorry for your loss! I am very bad, I was given a bread machine, but still haven't used it. I keep thinking about it, but just haven't gotten around to it. I hope you'll be able to find you a new friend!

You had me fooled too.....I have a bread machine, but its on its last "legs", makes a terrible sound when turned on..so it sits in a cabinet...I need to get a new one but keep putting it off...they are great, though, aren't they?

Cora, I see bread machines in thriftshops here all the time. You might check with one of yours if you have them in your area.

Meanwhile, I'll bow my head in a moment of silence in honor of your dearly departed friend. ;-)

My condolences.

I've been thinking recently of getting a bread making machine but I know nothing about them. What kind did you have? How long did it last? Would you get the same one again?

I'm really sorry. Are you going to try making bread by hand? I've thought about that, too.

You fooled me too. But this friend can be replaced. But I guess they are costly. Time for a sandwich with my crummy store bread.

Oh....... I love my bread machine! I do not use it much in the summer but in the winter I use it a lot! Sorry dear........ Guess it is to the Sears store or where else you might find a new friend!

Here is to the sweet smell of the bread floating through the rooms our home!

What a piece! You actually got me thinking you lost a dear friend!

Oh my Cora! :) All drama aside, garage sales are a good place to pick up a new bread machine. Then of course, there is the old fashioned way that requires no machine.

I'll pray you find a new one quick! :)

well now- your bread machine will have to go where my little food processor went- to the dump- to the dump - it did go-
quit in the middle of being used too- and now the piece that makes it go if you do it right broke off- so now I will just have to use a knife as I decided not to replace it-
poor machines- but reminding us not to store on treasures on earth.

Well, y'know, we CAN get attached to things! If you've got a regular oven, I've got a great recipe for breadsticks/buns that you don't have to knead and is done in an hour and a half! Also have a FANTASTIC rustic bread recipe that also needs no kneading (but a long rise)!! All is not lost! Contact me! There IS life after bread-machines!
