A Good Doctor's Visit!

I was so humbled by all of you who visited last night and left such sweet comments!!!! Thank you for your prayers.

I did make it to the surgeon's office for the check up. The incision is kind of infected and red, so he put me on antibiotics for that. My sister and I told him about the discharge-puking-scenario, and he just couldn't believe it and told me to write the administrator of the hospital and tell them. From his reaction and how he talked to his nurse there, it seems that this is not the first time stuff has happened with his patients. Then, when he saw the dressing around the drain tubes, he asked if I had changed that. I said no!!! I told him that the nurse had very emphatically told me and my sister to NEVER touch that bandage or the tape there. Again, he sighed, and said it would be growing green hair before long if it had not been changed. He was so gentle as he sat on the exam table with me and cut it all away, cleaned it, and rebandaged it all up.

Then, he asked about my shoulder. I thought he meant the part of me that is connected to my upper arm, and I told him that didn't go up and down too well. He shook his head as if he were not concerned about that, and he poked me in the shoulder blade in the back and said, "How about this? Can you move that? Does it hurt or anything???" I began rotating it and moving it up and down and said that it didn't hurt at all. He turned and smiled at my sister and did a big thumbs up and said, "GREAT!" So maybe the arm/shoulder thing won't be as big of a problem as he thought it might be.

I'm glad I got to see him yesterday, as I feel better about the infection being treated, etc. I just pray it goes away and doesn't cause problems.

This was the first time Buster has ever been left alone in the house. I expected to come home to broken windows, ripped up carpet, etc., etc. But it had to come sometime that he would have to be here by himself. I was shocked to walk into the house and find him being such a good little boy, feeling all sorry for himself. So another hurdle is crossed. He's gotten so many "good boy bones" lately that he thinks he's just died and gone to doggie heaven! Anything to keep him quiet and off of me right now!

Here's to hoping today will be better than yesterday!

So glad to hear about the good doctor's visit and that he was so gentle. The antibiotic should clear up that infection in no time.

When my husband had surgery for prostate cancer two years ago, he was put on some heavy-duty antibiotics to prevent infection. After checking with his doctor, he also started taking acidophilus, which you can buy at the pharmacy. It's also found in yogurt. Antibiotics kill both the "bad" and "good" bacteria in your intestines, and acidophilus helps replace the good bacateria. We also checked with the pharmacist to be sure there would be no problems taking it with the antibiotics and other medications he was taking. You may want to ask your dr. and/or pharamacist about it.

You continue to be in my prayers, Cora. Take good care of yourself.

Blessings,
Wanita

Hi Cora! Gosh, I should have known you would have posted on your blog. Dummy me... I only checked GTPF and my email. Duh.
After reading your two posts though I feel much better about your well being. I've been praying for you constantly. You've just been in the forefront of all my thoughts and therefore prayers.
Some nurses/hospital staff can be so uncaring and pushy. It's like you're a problem for them instead of the reason they even have a paycheck! I'm glad that's all over for you dear. It's all easier from here. I'm sure the antibiotics will take care of the incision problems. You really should write a note to the hosp. administrator when you feel like it..there was just no reason for you to be treated like that.
Great news about your shoulder, and that the surgeon saw/caught that other tumor. Praise God!!!
Rest dear Cora, enjoy your good little furry friend who loves you more than any of us ever could! (Good boy Buster!) I'll keep checking your blog for news now, like I should have done to begin with...duh! Love you! Penny

sot hugs and praise the Lord- yes, there were times when the care for papa was beyond terrible from the nurses- sigh---one time they forgot to feed him for 4 days and all we got was that it was on his chart to have nothing by mouth- finally Meme had a meltdown on the phone and they gave me someone that was suppose to calm me down and so she checked his chart against the computer and someone for got to put him on regular diet on the computer so that was why he got nothing- sigh- of course, it was the computer's fault but praise the Lord- dear papa got to eat again- I am so glad I found you as you give me such joy and hope and comfort in your walk- I know that papa hubby lost his battle but he put up a good fight and now he is with the Lord waiting for us to come in the Lord's timing- soft gentle hugs with tears - sorry- I just have to cry with you- huggles Meme

Praying that you are healing well. I know the pain is bad, but it does get easier once you heal more.
