Lea challenged me a few posts ago to write a rhyme like my Dad would do that started out with "There once was a gal named Lea. . ."
So here goes!
There once was a gal name Lea,
Who always wanted to be a
Farm girl with chickens
And veggies for pickin's,
And kiddies who love Momma-Mia!!!!
Now that's how my Dad would do it! No matter who or what we talked about, That's how the rhyme would go. It got to where he would start them, and us kids would finish them!!!!

Strength for the Journey!
Yesterday, we had one of those mornings that I just love!!!! Very warm -- about 70 degrees outside. It was raining -- one of those slow, steady rains that seems to hypnotize you as you sit and listen, enjoying your own thoughts, meditations, and prayers. I love that sound of rain dripping off the roof, hitting the leaves! And the cardinals were singing the most beautiful song of thankfulness as they just sat there in the wet leaves!!!!
Buster was enjoying it, too. He sniffed the clean, fresh air as though it had just come from heaven. I sat in my rocking chair on the porch, my dog sitting next to me, and we listened to the rain, the birds. . .and thought of how good life was at that moment.
In that moment of solitude, all of a sudden about 15 robins came flying in and landed in my Cherry Laurel Tree. I have two that that I planted a few years ago. I specifically chose them because they stay green year round. One of these produced a million "cherries," if that's what you call them. They are dark, and about the size of blueberries. The robins had been here earlier in the winter, but had not touched the cherries -- nor had the other birds and I wondered why.
Today, this little flock of robins seemed to believe that today was the perfect day. They stripped that tree of those cherries in just a few minutes flat! Then, they hit the birdbath, took long, delibrate drinks, and then. . . .began to chirp and sing. Buster and I sat in awe, as they had not spotted us on the porch. It seemed as though they were singing their song of praise and thanks. . . .and then, as fast as they had come, they were gone.
This is the time of year when northern birds begin their long trip home to the northern states. I know you have a hard time thinking of that if you live in the north, but we are saying goodby to these feathered friends.
I don't know how far south this flock had gone this winter or when they had decided to start the journey back again, but I couldn't help but think of my tree as a place to rest, feed, and get a drink on their long journey. There isn't much left in our woods --- the wild berries are all gone. I couldn't help but think that God had saved these cherries for these Robins, giving them strength for their journey today. I wonder how far they fly in a day and where God is preparing their next meal?????
I thought of a special friend, Penny, especially, as she is ill and trying to move, and all of us as we carve out new pathways and new beginnings. Isn't it just like the Lord to give us strength for the journey one day at a time? Whatever you need today, He will provide, just as He did for the Robins! Trust HIM, ladies. I hope you find the cherry tree He has prepared for YOU!

I've been tagged!
I was tagged by Lea of Farmhouse Blessings and now I have to tell you 5 weird facts about myself. This is sooooo tough, because I'm soooooooo . . . . ordinary!
But here goes a good try:
1. I'm totally unorganized! There is NOT ONE place in my home that has any organization to it. My cabinets, shelves, table tops, drawers are all a mess!
2. I would rather sweets than any other type of food! I would KILL for sweets.
I put 5 heaping teaspoons of sugar in my coffee!
3. I am a pack rat! It kills me to throw anything out. Everything seems to have a tag on it that says, "Someday you will need me!"
4. I am a counter. Whenever I am walking, whether outside down the driveway, through a parking lot to the store, etc., I count my steps. Have done it since I was a little kid. I used to count the sidewalk blocks all the way to school. (Do I sound like Monk?)
5. I can end anything you say with a rhyme! My father used to do it all the time. I can remember all the little ditties he would say, like, "There once was a girl named. . . . . who lived on a street called. . . . . ., and so on" Always made us kids laugh. And so I guess that's where my poet abilities were born.
Not real exciting -- but that's ME!
Now: I need to tag 5 people! Do I even KNOW 5 people!!!!!!
1. Nancy from http://insidenanashead.blogspot.com/
2. Andra from: http://www.primitiveswhimsies.blogspot.com/
3. Dani from: http://dani-eagleswings.blogspot.com/
4. Vickie from: http://2muchfarmprimitives.blogspot.com/
5. Penny from: http://misspootsiesprimitives.blogspot.com/
These are the RULES: Link to the person that tagged you. Which I did. Post the rules on your blog. Share 5 random and/or weird facts about yourself on your blog. Tag 5 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs. Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Please Don't Eat the Daisies!!!!
Sometimes you just have to take time to play! And that's what I did this week. I got out all my paper, stains, and what have you, and began making flowers. I felt like I was in the second grade again with my glue, etc.!!!!! But I just love how these flowers came out -- so perfectly primitive and ready for those wonderful prim projects, altered art, handmade tags, etc. I couldn't stop! So I decided to make some accessories to go with them: Tags, envelopes, ATC's with envelopes, bookmarks, ribbon slides --- all in coordinating colors!

Something New from Country Patches
I just love the way these primitive stitcheries turned out. I used some old, vintage dresser scarves, doilies, or quilt pieces and then stitched a saying on them in a child-like, primitive, easy back stitch. I always pictured a little girl sitting at her grandmother's knee learning to embroider this way. These stitcheries are available for sale in my ebay store, Country Patches.
I have other primitive stitcheries listed there for you to see. Don't miss your chance to get the one you want!

Ya gotta love those primmy tags!!!
I've always been fasinated and drawn to the idea of the old hang tags. I've even had them hanging on my Christmas Tree as ornaments. They remind me of "the olden days" when packages were wrapped in old brown paper, tied with a string, and the address was printed lovingly, in your best handwriting, on a manila tag.
Suitcases travelled with these tags on them, identifying the owner. Who would have throught that us primitive crafters would turn them into works of art????
Ever since I started making angels from old quilts and linens, I've included a tag to go with each one. Whether it be a Bible verse, a poem, or a short saying, it relayed a message to the recipient of the angel.
I've received so many requests for these tags to be sold separately. I've put just a little more work into them, "gussied them up" so to speak, and have started offering them for sale on ebay! You can see them in my ebay sales here:
