Scalloped Potatoes?????

I was sooooo blessed this Easter and received one of those wonderful, spiral cut hams! I can't stop picking at it.

Years ago, I remember having the absolute best scalloped potatoes with ham chunks in it. It was soooo creamy, cheezy and tasty.

I have tried a million recipes down through the years -- some OK, some terrible, etc.
My main problem is that it seems to separate or "curdle" or something. Not that nice, creamy texture that you want.

Does anyone have a good recipe?? I'd love to use my left over ham like this, but don't want to ruin the ham AND the cheese, AND the potatoes in a not-so-good recipe!

Yep can't stop picking away at those spiral hams.
About the potatoes. I just use milk, butter, cheese, ham . Of course whole milk and lots of butter make it really good. But the trick is, low heat and cook slow. Too fast and hot and it will curdle.

Thanks for your comment on my blog. You're right.. eventhough the Dutch make absolutely revolting dinners, they make the most delicious cakes as well! :)

Every time I'm in another country (or in holland: in a shop FROM another country) and I try a cake or pastry, they always let me down.... the Dutch make the best cakes! *lol*

Fun to hear that both your parent are from 'round here! Were you also born here?

Hi Cora, just stopped in to say hello. I love scalloped potatoes, unfortunately, I have a family of picky eaters who will not eat them! I don't fix them much because of this. Usually wait till I get a lot of company to help me eat them. blessings, Kathleen
