What's In There, Anyways?????

So many of you have left comments or sent me personal emails asking if I would share some of the information I have found concerning foods and other products that we use in our homes that have estrogens or estrogen producing elements in them. There are tons of websites out there. I'm not a stupid person, but I must tell you, a lot of it is so technical and so full of 27-letter long words that I just didn't know what I was reading. Some went overboard, making me think that all I would ever be able to eat was organically grown grass, that I could never use soap or shampoo again, or even wear clothing!!!!

It does seem scarey, to say the least, if you are trying to STOP hormone production in your body, that so much of what you eat and use every day keeps pouring it IN!

It also makes you wonder about all these drugs and medications that are being given out that are full of hormones. I know there are tons of women who have no breast cancer issues, etc., and seem to need these. But it makes me think a little more carefully about what will happen years down the road with all of this. I was never on hormone therapy, nor did I take any over-the-counter stuff to ease post-menopausal symptoms. But here I am now, taking hormone BLOCKERS!

Here is one site that seems to speak a little more down to earth about products, foods, soaps, shampoos, plastics, chemicals, and herbs, etc., that are estrogenic.
As I find more information, I will pass it on to those of you who are interested.
This whole website is VERY interesting!!!!

Click here to read the article about estrogenic foods, etc.!

Well, I've tried a thousand times to make that link work to take you directly to the right page on that site, but it won't! So here it is for you to copy and paste:

Cora,

I hope you are doing well. Thanks for sharing this information today.

It seems there is soooooo much cancer. Even more just since my sister was diagnosed. I think it is in all the preservatives, chemicals and such.

I know that something just isn't good about all that.

Take care!

Happy WFW!

Hi Cora,
I clicked on your link and it worked fine for me. There is so much information there. And it's easy to read and understand, though a little overwhelming when you consider all the stuff that's in our food products. Thank you for posting it.

organically grown grass! *lol*! That made me laugh big time! ;)

It's true though.. with all the things added to the foods nowadays, you'd be scared to eat anything..

hormones, antibiotics, pesticides.. gives me the shivers.. Especially because there aren't very many (affordable) alternatives....

I hope everything's well with you guys! :) Greetings from holland!

Cora - thank you so much for posting this information. I try to be very careful about the things that I eat and use but this was really an eye opener! I will also be thinking about the ingredients that I use in my soap and bath products so I know they are really safe for people. I'm praying for you daily. Love you!

Hi Cora, love your insight, this issue has gotten me on my soapbox more than once, that is why our little girls are getting their periods in the third grade and boys are twice their size, it just makes me so mad! Keep up the good work, your in my prayers! Stay well and spread the word!

Cor,

Amazing how this intrigued me so much when I was taking the herbal course. There are some herbs that should be avoided, too, as they contain phytoestrogens, plant hormones similar to human estrogen. These would include Chaste Tree (Vitex),l Dong Quai, Red Clover, licorice, Thyme, Turmeric, Hops, and Vervain.

Also, studies have shown that soy also can cause some rise in the estrogen levels.

So now, Sis, you can't shampoo, wash your clothes, use your microwave, eat any foods that are not organic, and stay away from many herbs and spices....

I got some goat food you might find tempting!!!

Love ya,

Juri

An interesting site.

Keep a happy attitude, keep your mind on the good things. Keep as healthy as you can under the circustances, by eating fresh fruit and veggies, avoid boxed and bottled processed food, and get exercise when you can.

Fresh air and sunshine is a good healer. Even sitting outside under a shade tree and listening to the birds can restore you, if you can do it. Don't stay inside too much. Common sense is usually the best way to handle things.

Cora, I just read about your cancer in Linda Pinda's blog. Sending prayers for your recover. My Dad has recently had 2 incidences of bladder cancer and starts new treatment in about a week. So many types of cancer can be treated with early detection. My Mom had breast cancer about 10 years ago, had a lumpectomy and she's been cancer fee since. Hang in there girl!

Hugs for all you are going through.

Thanks for sharing that link with us Cora. The internet can be overwhlming with information, and it's great to get straight to the bottom of things with people like you pointing us in the right direction. Everybody should try and inform themselves about these things. I certainly know i don't take enough time to think about what goes into the things I eat.
