Daybook Entry for May 5, 2008

Photobucket

FOR TODAY (May 5, 2008)...

Outside My Window . . .My Sycamore tree is casting a beautiful shadow across my yard as it is now full of big leaves. It grew so fast!

I am thinking... About how small that tree was when I received it as a gift just a few years ago!

I am thankful for... God's faithful and constant provisions for me, even through hard times!

From the kitchen... Left over baked potatoes (twice baked) with butter, cheese, bacon bits, and sour cream!

I am wearing... oversized tee shirt, shoes that hurt, baggy pants!

I am creating... primitive pincushions.

I am going... To the grocery store for dog food and bread.

I am reading... Pretty Little Pincushions. A great find on Ebay!

I am hoping...
Something to private to share, but heavy on my heart!

I am hearing... Several baby cardinals who have just left the nest learning about the bird feeder but still wanting to be fed.

Around the house...
Let's not even go there. I need to clean from top to bottom.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week. . . Get ahead on making things for ebay, make some bread with a new recipe for my breadmaker, finish some stitcheries and get them framed.

Here is picture thought I am sharing...

Cora, I truly enjoying reading your daybook. Makes me feel even closer to you. You are such a precious friend.

I can hardly wait to see those pincushions. I'm sure they are sooo sweet.

As always, I'll be praying for your heavy heart. I don't need to know the details to help you carry the load!

Love,
Lea

I enjoy these posts so much, Cora... I like to just picture in my mind the sights and sounds you are describing. (and smells, especially when you tell us what you're cooking! LOL)
Love the picture, too. And take off those shoes for heaven's sake! LOL

Just curious, but how much did you pay on ebay?

See, I'm the major contributor in the book (* projects in it) and a FEW sellers on ebay are tagging it as "rare" and out of print and charge a fortune for it. Which is highway robbery since - the book only came out in Nov 2007, and while amazon no longer stocks it many other places do like BN who has it for $14).

Evidentially we've gotten to the point that if amazon is not currently stocking it (and they did when it came out) that it's "rare". ".

If you paid anything more than $20 for a new book (coverprice is $17), you got ripped off and be sure to pass that in your feedback.

I recently blogged this on my store blog: http://www.schmaltzycraftsy.com/2008/04/scalping-pretty-little-pincushions-book.html

Jen, I paid $11.30, which I thought was fair as it was new, not used. I feel honored to know that you are a contributor in the book!!!! It's fantastic! Thank you, too for checking out my blog!!!! Cora

Cora, thank you so much for stopping by my blog and leaving your kind comment. It sounds like you love the old hymns as much as I do ~ what wonderful messages they hold!

I just recently found Lea's blog, and now yours. I look forward to reading them and learning more about both of you.

What a lovely photo...I love this time of year, looking out and watching the birds.
I am hoping that you'll post some photos of the pincushions you are making...I know they will be wonderful.
Enjoy making the homemade bread...mmmm, I can almost smell it now! My mom makes wonderful bread, but I'm not a good breadmaker.
Cora, I hope you have a lovely week-
Blessings,
Pam

Hey Cora so glad you visited. Yes, I've been using that detergent, mine turned out a little lumpy, maybe it was because I didn't stir it enough. We will know next time to remove it from the stove before adding the baking soda, I don't remember Lea's recipe saying to take it off the heat. She must understand I'm a little slow in the mind. All-in-all my lumpy detergent works fine, I've got the whole kettle on my dryer with a measuring cup in it.

I have to tell you while it was sitting on the counter cooling, my husband thought it was potatoes soup. Happy Mothers Day, RoseMarie

Hi Cora,
I love reading this daybook! ~You should visit Arkansas sometime as you know down here, people don't wear shoes. LOL I love all your creations, and your incredible insights.
Stella is still "hanging in there."
I am thinking of you this Mother's day... and everything you shared with me. Take care friend,
Lea
ps. I am praying for whatever was on your heart. :)
